Established in 2010, SoundSet is an Irish string and vocal ensemble under the direction of composer and vocalist, Laura Kilty and conductor and composer, Emma O'Halloran. Our aim is to put on high quality concerts which feature repertoire from a wide variety of musical genres - contemporary, electronic, Renaissance, Baroque and anything well-written and exciting!
This October, we wish to bring together some of the best string players in the country for a concert of wonderful string music that is rarely performed here. We will perform in St. Ann's Church, Dawson Street, Dublin 2 on the 28th October 2011. The programme will feature Arnold Schoenberg’s ground-breaking work Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night). Transfigured Night tantalises in waves of emotion, beautifully igniting and haunting the ear - a truly magnificent piece not to be missed! In addition to this, SoundSet will be collaborating with two Irish composers to premiere two new works on the night.
This will be a big night for SoundSet – it is an opportune time to showcase our fantastic group of musicians. We are excited to collaborate with Irish composers to see what inspiring new sound worlds we can create together. It really is shaping up to be an unforgettable night of music.
For this to happen, we need to pay for venue, score hire, rehearsals, lighting, sound, advertising and all the other bits and pieces that go into putting on a great show.
You could help us by supporting our campaign in any way you can!
We are a new ensemble starting out, we have some great projects planned for the future and we would love for you to be part of it!
Thanks a million!
Laura and Emma x

Dear Funders, Two days left before our concert and I thought I'd let you know where things stand... Venue booked, sound and audio technicians on board, lighting hired, programmes gone to print, the finishing touches being put to pieces in rehearsals and there's a general excitement in the air. This is such a huge occasion for what has become our big musical family and we can't thank you enough for helping make this happen. Sitting in rehearsal today, I actually got goosebumps - this night is one not to be missed! For those of you who have purchased tickets in advanced through the Fund It rewards and haven't sent us your address, we will have the tickets held under your name at the door on the night and we hope you can make it! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! SoundSet xUpdate posted on Friday 9th September '11 @ 07:09:54
