THE MIRACLE by Droichead Youth Theatre

By Droichead Youth Theatre

description

It's our 21st Birthday here at Droichead Youth Theatre. We'd like to invite you to the party! From the 16th to 19th May, Droichead Youth Theatre (D.Y.T.) will stage a production on the Miracle by Lin Coghlan. The Miracle is a heart warming and touching story of a small town where something extraordinary happens. This is a strong ensemble piece with features live music, including some original and all performed by our members.

Droichead Youth Theatre has long been central to the theatrical life in Drogheda. The Youth Theatre serves multiple purposes, in addition to drama training there are social, educational and personal development aspects to Youth Theatre. Youth Theatre introduces young people to the arts and creativity in ways commercial drama academies can never do. The ethos is collective. Youth Theatre not only stimulates an early love and appreciation for the arts, it encourages mutual respect, intellectual questioning and active citizenship. It is a living proven platform for creativity as a staple in the life of ordinary citizens in ordinary towns.

Droichead Youth Theatre was established in 1992 founded by Declan Mallon and Aileen Hanratty. The fact that Drogheda hosts two professional theatre companies is attributable in no small measure to the quality and consistency to the youth theatre as a formation platform for talent. Throughout its history Droichead Youth Theatre has put on shows, both scripted and devised.

This year we have decided we have decided to do both. A well as staging "The Miracle" we are also lending our energy to the creation of "Ship Street Revisited" by Upstate Theatre Project and directed by Paul Hayes. Danny Thomson, a past member of D.Y.T. is back to direct 14 of our members in a devised element of this exciting site specific piece.

A current artistic director of D.Y.T. I'm very proud of the work that our members do in weekly workshops and I ask you to help us stage our production of "The Miracle" and to help us celebrate by coming to see the show.

All funds raised will go directly to the cost of bringing the production to the stage, such as set. lighting, costume and promotional costs. We are aiming to raise €2500 to go towards covering these costs. Your pledge ensures that this production reaches its full potential in front of the largest possible audience.

Thanks you for your support in helping us create and make it happen.
