We’re The Evolution Project, a style skipping, genre hopping band from Ireland and we’re making our debut album “Outta the blue”. Outta the blue is a concept album based on the idea of cultural evolution. And so to reflect this, the songs naturally evolve in style, taking the listener on a surprising musical safari.
With a whole host of diverse musical influences, from acoustic, Celtic, rhythm n’ blues, Afro-Cuban, experimental, folk, rock, funk, jazz and then some, with your help we’re planning to pull something rather special out of the collective musical hat!
But wait! There’s more. As Harry Boy says it’s “all about the music!” but we, The Evolution Project don’t just want to sing about evolution, we want to engage it! You see we reckon that if there is one sure fire way to instigate real cultural evolution, in a nutshell, it’ll look something like this: Simultaneous Action, everyone focusing on the same thing at the same time, on a regular basis. So to really get the word out on the street and to launch the album, we’re planning to go that extra mile and stage a little stunt.
As a symbol of the potential of Simultaneous Action, On the 2nd May 2015 we’re going to climb the highest mountain in Ireland, Carrauntoohil , Co. Kerry, take a rock from the top of it and then walk it (Roisin Rua has trained as an outdoor pursuits instructor) over 340km, all the way to the Spire in Dublin’s city centre, place the rock there and then launch the album.
And there you have it:
Outta the blue - The Evolution Project : Simultaneous Action.
But in order to make it happen, we need your help. We’re looking to raise €7,000 towards covering mixing, mastering, production and publicity costs. We have been fortunate to have some of the very best musicians in Ireland play on this album and because of its diverse nature, we really believe it will have something special for everyone. Thank you for your generosity.
Viva La Evolution!
Go Raibh Míle Maith Agaibh,
The Evolution Project
