Jailbreak is a race between 160 national teams of students from four colleges around Ireland, NUIG, UCD, UCC, TCD . The teams race to get as far away from their university as they possibly can without spending any money. The race starts at 9am on 22nd February.
Along the 36 hour journey we will be collecting money for St. Vincent De Paul, Amnesty and Draiocht. Each competitor must fundraise a minimum of €100 for the charities. Overall €32,000 will be donated to these charities, and this is before pledging and further fundraising begins. To learn more about Jailbreak visit their facebook page
Along our journey we will be keeping updates to our facebook page 'Road Runners NUIG'. These updates will be in the form of travel logs about our escapades from whichever country and continent we are travelling through at the time. We hope you all take part in following our travels.
We are appealing for funds for our flights out of Ireland. All funds will be put toward travel expenses during the 36 hour race. This money would be used for flights, buses, taxis, trains, rental bicycles or any other forms of transport that could push us into the lead.
The team: Liam Lachs and Laura Hunt. We both have a great passion for travelling around as much of the globe as we can. Liam has travelled as far as Morocco searching for the perfect wave and Laura has chased reef sharks through the Great Barrier Reef. We hope to get a bountiful supply of stories to tell from this new adventure.
The video linked is our entry video to Jailbreak14. This is just a quick funny show of Liam and Laura expressing some creative juices.
Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks.
