We are Out of Towners - a smooth sounding singer-songwriter 4 piece based in Sligo. Originally a duo made up of myself , singer songwriter Oliver Alcorn from Australia and Robert Naczas harmonica and hurley stick guitar player from Poland. Two Out of Towners who were attracted by the rich and vibrant Sligo music scene. We expanded to include bass player Dominic Callaghan and percussionist Brian F. Devaney. Our sound is based on original tunes that glow of time passing by.
We’ve been playing solidly for around 18 months mainly around the North West of Ireland but often take weekend trips to other counties to play. We’ve taken our time up until this point to build and refine our live set, which has gained us respect and popularity among all who have seen us play live. Residencies in The Swagman Bar, Furey’s pub and frequent gigs in Tricky’s McGarrigles have helped greatly in our success and growth.
We feel that the next step is to have a good quality EP to send into radio stations, festivals and promoters to move us forward. We are frequently asked at gigs if we have something to sell and it would be nice to send people away satisfied. We’ve set aside some money for recording but to mix, master and duplicate an EP is a quite expensive so we’re asking you…yes you! to be a part of making this EP a reality. We have some fantastic rewards available for our funders including one of Robert’s custom-made Hurley stick guitars AKA: DaShtick.
The very talented local engineer, Ray Duffy, will record the EP. It will then be sent away for top quality mastering. The aim is to have a great product at the end of it that people will want to hear again and again. We have no doubt that this will be the case and would love to have you on board!
