We are a group of young artists that originally met whilst studying fine art in belfast. We have exhibited together at college and the show was very well received, however we all knew that together we could put on something far more professional, ambitious and memorable and so this project was born.
Although we work in an extremely diverse range of disciplines it is apparent that our work is connected through a common approach to subject matter. Our work reflects of the austere times we live in. Sometimes it is bleak and pessimistic and at other times it is expressive and optimistic but it is all a visual response to the here and now.
The painters amongst the group offer up bleak urban scenes and intensely melancholic portraits. The sculptors all work in ceramics and metal which combine a modern industrial aesthetic with traditional craft. there are printmakers who innovate with sculptural forms, a filmmaker and photographer who is exploring noirish themes and an illustrator who is creating a graphic novel which is both darkly humourous and meticulously crafted.
Our vision is to create a show that is a collection of personal reflections on the current economic and social climate and how it influences us as artists starting out in these times.

Why do we need your help?
We have a vision to put on a fantastic show at a vibrant and innovative city centre art gallery but we realised that we cannot do this without raising funds.
We will use the funds in three main ways:
1) To pay for the gallery space. We thought it essential to host the show at a venue which had a reputation of hosting experimental and innovative shows and Catalyst Arts in Belfast have agreed to host the show.
2) To pay to get a high quality catalogue printed. We though this essential as a way to use the show as a vehicle for launching our careers. It cements us as a group and helps provide context for the exhibition. The more funds we raise, the better quality catalogue we will be able to produce.
3) To offer each member of the group a small amount of money to help pay for materials and framing.
With your generous support we can make this exhibition outstanding.
It will be of enormous value to us as artists. We hope it will not only launch our careers as serious artists but also give us the experience of curating and project managing a large scale exhibition - something that we can build on and learn from.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us in our fundraising efforts for the show. We've now reached our first goal of £1200!
This money will pay for the venue hire, printing a 32 page catalogue of works, printing flyers and posters, postage of the rewards for funding us and the building of a partition in the gallery so we can maximise the use of the space.
So again, thank you!
If we manage to raise total goal of £2000 then we can get our works professionally framed, we can get a clear perspex case made for the model of the gallery which we are showing, we can paint the walls of the outdoor area of the gallery and use it to show some extra sculptural works and we can significantly improve our collaborative installation.... of which there will be some more news soon!
We've also been updating our facebook page with some new photos of work in progress - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fifteen-over-eight/293956727333512

A huge huge thanks to all the people who has supported us so far. We have reached 75% of our target for the show with a month to go!
If by any luck we exceed our target that would be amazing and it will allow us to go above and beyond anything we thought possible for the show.
We will be able to print the catalogue on top quailty paper stock and produce more of them.
We will be able to improve the presentation and scale of the works where needed.
We will be able to produce more flyers and posters to promote the show.
So thank you, thank you, thank you to all our funders and we look forward to welcoming more of you on board :)
