Edge of the Earth

By Simon O'Reilly

I am a guitarist based near the Burren in Co Clare, I have been working on my new instrumental album 'Edge of the Earth' for several years now. The music is inspired by my surroundings here at the edge of Europe, hammered by the Atlantic.

I am looking for people to help make the album possible by purchasing a copy in advance, or if you would like to contribute more to the making of the album by purchasing one of the other rewards on offer. The money raised will cover the musicians fees, mastering and duplication.  I have written parts for a string quartette, french horn, trumpet, trombone, drums, and a percussionist to accompany me. The music is going to have contemporary production and will be cinematic with dark & gritty string arpeggios pulsating around acoustic guitar and uplifting brass melodies. I plan on recording the musicians playing my arrangements live, but also incorporating loops we will have recorded and processed.

To record the album I need to employ 10 musicians playing different instruments. This will cost €4,500. The cost of mastering the CD, manufacturing, duplication and artwork will be €2,000.  Bank charges and other fees will be €500. The target amount I am looking to raise on fund it is €7,000. Every pledge made will help me get closer to this target.

I will be posting more audio snippets and videos on my website and Facebook.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my Fund it campaign.

Almost there

The album is just about ready for mixing and I am planning a launch with live dates featuring some of the musicians involved later in the summer. I am really happy with the sound and I can't wait for you to hear it! Sorry it's taken so long, millions of rewrites, it will be worth the wait! Thanks for your continued patience and support! Simon

Album update

Hi all, A quick album update, with your generous support to date I have hired and recorded drums, double bass, hurdy-gurdy, violins and cellos, I am about to record woodwinds, sax and harmonica. All to be looped, mutated and processed into the dark guitar / electronic soundscape I have created! Things are talking a little longer than expected due to film work and other projects I am working on to pay the bills but the album is sounding great and I hope will be worth the long wait! Thank you for your support and ongoing patience ! Simon
