What is the PhotoIreland festival?
PhotoIreland Festival is Ireland’s international Festival of Photography and Image Culture. It celebrates Ireland’s photographic talents – oftentimes only recognised abroad – as well as bringing international practitioners and artists to Ireland. With the motto “vibrant, friendly, all-inclusive: a festival for all to enjoy”, the festival highlights, promotes and elevates Photography in Ireland – conferring on it the importance it duly deserves.
Since 2010 PhotoIreland has celebrated a festival every July that brings together the energies of a wide range of artists, galleries and cultural institutions in a celebration of Photography, with many participative events for all types of audiences.
The Catalogue
The catalogue is an essential free guide to the festival. It contains all the practical information you need about exhibition venues, details of workshops and talks, maps, opening hours and an overview of the work in the main show. It is also a beautifully designed object with full-page colour photographs with essays on issues related to and raised by the works on show. The catalogue will also be a useful reference tool for gaining an insight into contemporary Irish photography. We want as many people as possible to get the most out of the Festival by knowing what’s on and where as well as having a resource to refer back to once the festival is over.

Why we need your help?
This year for the first time the festival will be taking place in Limerick and Cork as well as Dublin. It is a fantastic development for the festival and it means the catalogue will be bigger than ever as it will include information on a larger number of events. We want to give the opportunity to people all around the country to get involved and engage with photography. The catalogue is free of charge for anyone who wants to pick one up so we need your help to ensure we reach as wide an audience as possible.
It will be distributed to libraries, colleges, galleries, museums and information centers so that the Irish public as well as tourists and visitors have access to this valuable and comprehensive resource. We need your help to ensure we have enough copies to go around as well as a few left over to bring to international photography festivals in order to showcase Irish photographic talent. The money raised will also cover the design of the catalogue so that it looks its best in time for the festival and does justice to the all the excellent work that will be on show.
