Black Box explores the theme of family and the extremes we are driven to, when it comes to the protection of our loved ones in the face of difficult moral dilemmas.
The film follows the narrative of a single father whose life takes a dark turn carrying out a simple favour for his older brother. When he retrieves a locked box from his brother’s ransacked home, our protagonist exposes a disturbing secret distorting his perception of his brother’s limits and his own.
We want to create a film as haunting and hypnotic as it is tense and cerebral. Although ambitious, we firmly believe our talented and dedicated crew along with the collaboration of a generous public, will enable the best possible story to be told on screen.
The DIT School of Media is the longest running film programme in the Republic of Ireland. Former graduates include directors John Moore, Rob and Ronan Burke, Damien O'Donnell and Ian Power, producers include Macdara Kelleher, Martina Niland and Martha O'Neill, and cinematographers Brendan Galvin.
Our goal is the very minimum of €2100. It is vital in fueling the arduous 5 day shoot around Dublin. This budget will go towards being able to afford to give the lead actors a small per diem, transportation to multiple locations, catering for a 20 strong cast and crew as well as lights, sound, camera equipment and post-production grading. The filming will take place in April and will be released for festivals in June.
The breakdown of how the money will be spent is as follows:
Actor Expenses: 25%
Lighting Equipment: 10%
Art Dept. Expenses: 20%
Cast & Crew Travel Expenses: 10%
Catering Expenses: 35%
All of the costs will go into delivering this story to a professional standard. A list of rewards can be found below as a small token of our gratitude and appreciation for investing in the project.
Any support, no matter how modest will help create this thrilling and thought provoking character drama.
Thank you
