We are a rootsy, blues tinged duo, who are currently looking to record our second album. Our influences range from Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Bob Dylan, Mavis Staples and Etta James amongst many others. This is what other people have said about us:
"B is ‘a real discovery, her voice filling your head with pure soul as she gets under the skin of the songs and sings them from the inside out" (HOTPRESS).
"She has ‘an extraordinary Blues/Gospel voice, which hits all the right notes with sass and flair and plenty of oomph" (LIMERICK EVENT GUIDE).
"Honeyboy, K.J. Mac is one of Ireland’s unsung guitar heroes and songwriters and has a ‘kick-ass full on guitar style for which the word gritty may have been specially coined" (HOTPRESS).
Our first album received local and national airplay. Since then, we have played many venues and festivals throughout Ireland including the Sugarclub, J.J. Smyth’s, Whelans, Flatlake Festival, Monaghan Blues Festival, Temple House and more recently, the Electric picnic. We were invited to play the prestigious ‘Blues Autour Festival’, France, the Callander Festival, Scotland and have played several venues in London including a show stopping performance in the award winning (best British music venue) ‘Hootananny’ in Brixton. More recently we have been busy writing new material, which sees us broaden our musical horizons and reflects new influences, which we hope brings a freshness and vitality to B & The Honeyboy’s already Roots/Americana sound adding a contemporary edginess. We are very excited about the new material and believe that we have progressed a lot (particularly in the quality of songwriting) since the last album. If you would like to be a part of the making of our second album you will also be rewarded with lots of different options including a live gig in your very own home!
We have already begun recording our album in Silver Wood Studios, Wicklow, with renowned musician/engineer Gavin Ralston and would love to be able to finish it in the next few months. We have already raised a total of 2,000 euro but are relying on the remainder to pay for recording of the album, duplication of cds, artwork, marketing and the making of a video. Although our target is 2,500 we would hope to raise more to cover costs.
