Hello, my name is Tom Campbell. I am an artist. In March I shall have an exhibition in Cork School of Music. I am very pleased for this chance to show my recent work. I have been in a residence in a studio in Barcelona. This show will be a look at some of the work I’ve been doing in Barcelona. The exhibition will include painting, drawing, sculpture with some aspects of performance. The opening event will begin with a brief performance and will have documentation of past performances.
If I avail of the funding it will allow me to do this show without too much stress. I need money for framing, printing of posters and invitations, soft drinks for the opening, and also some cash towards my studio costs. As an artist I live very much hand to mouth, its okay I carry on and will not stop. However, I need your help to make this exhibition happen.
As an artist I’m flexible in what medium I work in. I have a special love for papier Mache. In 2005 I instigated a project called the Dog Project, where I facilitated the making of life size papier mache dogs. Since then I have been involved in the making of over 300 dogs. See 'Dogmation' on YouTube.
I love circus and street art and this inspires much of my work. I perform in my own shows in which have a strong aspect of clown and mask. I make music on the ukulele, harmonica and sing.
I believe Creativity can transform society. I also believe that as an artist it is my role to demystify art. I believe everyone can make art.
My work is spread throughout the world, but mainly in Europe. I have exhibited internationally. Recently the Crawford Art Gallery in Cork bought 65 small drawings from an exhibition entitled 'My Midlife Retrospective' in which I exhibited over a thousand drawings.
Thank you for your time in reading this, and if you are able to help fund my show I would REALLY appreciate it. Hope to see you at the show.
