Acting OUT: Pride

By Acting Out

description

Our theatre strand forms part of Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride’s and is expanding this year, to run for two weeks in the middle of the festival. It will feature a new Irish play, two new short plays and the Irish premiere of a classic comedy from one of Liverpool’s best known writers. So there is something for everybody! All performances will take place at the brilliant studio theatre at Teacher’s Club in Parnell Square in Dublin.

Total budget for the project is €5,000. And we are hoping to raise €1,500 through this crowdfunding campaign (more would be excellent!)

If successful money will be used to help pay royalties to the writers, fees for designers and operators and props and costumes.

Acting Out are Dublin’s award winning LGBTQ drama group based in Outhouse. Our last play for Dublin Pride, The Decriminalisation Monologues, recently won the 2020 National GALA Award for Arts and Entertainment, the second time we have won this award. That play was also nominated for Best New Play at Brighton Fringe, Prague Fringe and Greater Manchester Fringe. We received the Hilton Edwards Award for our production of, The Ref.

We have ten years experience of successfully carrying out projects including touring work to festivals abroad. This funding would definitely allow us to improve the quality of the productions and therefore the audience experience!

We have had a great time performing the last couple of Pride festivals with The Decriminalisation Monologues and Casa Valentina - it's a great time to feature work with an LGBTQ theme and the support of straight allies has been brilliant too.

Thanks a million for your help! We couldn’t do it without you. See you at Pride 2020!
